About the Area

Ambarvale was developed from 1973 by Lend Lease, and its streets are still known for their unusual names. A staff competition landed on naming them after characters from Charles Dickens novels, giving the suburb streets like Copperfield Drive, Pickwick Way, and Grimwig Crescent. The suburb itself borrows its name from the old Ambarvale farm, granted to former convict Samuel Larkin in the early 1800s.
